A study found that the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra caused a significant increase in blood pressure in mice.
Researchers from University of California at San Francisco (UCSan Francisco) examined a group of mice that had been fed a low dose of Viagra or another ED drug, called Cialis. They found that the animals had significantly more blood pressure than normal mice.
Researchers found that the animals had been drinking large amounts of water, which increased their blood pressure. They also found that, when they were treated with the drug, the blood pressure increased.
They also found that the mice had been drinking a higher dose of Viagra than normal mice. They found that the mice also had a higher incidence of urinary tract infections than normal mice.
The researchers concluded that the erectile dysfunction drug Cialis causes the increase in blood pressure and blood pressure to the same extent as the ED drug Viagra.
The results were published Monday in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
The drug, which was taken orally once a day, caused the most blood pressure increase in any drug study.
Dr. Michael L. Kocsis, professor in the Department of Surgery at UC San Francisco, said the study shows that this type of effect is possible.
“This is one of the first studies to show a possible therapeutic effect of Cialis,” said Kocsis, who was not involved in the research.
“Our findings are consistent with previous studies, including a small placebo group that was fed the drug and showed a slight increase in blood pressure in the drinking water.”
The study was published Monday in the journal Urology and Neurology.
It was also the first study to show a similar effect, with the study showing that mice drinking large amounts of water were more likely to have an increased blood pressure.
“This suggests that Cialis could be a viable option for treating erectile dysfunction,” said Dr. Andrew E. Joffe, lead author of the study.
James P. O’Malley, a clinical professor of urology at UC San Francisco, said he expects more studies to be done to test Cialis in humans.
“This is very exciting,” he said. “The research has shown that it could be useful in treating erectile dysfunction, and we hope to do so in humans soon.”
Kocsis said that other medications have been used to treat erectile dysfunction, including Viagra.
In 1998, Viagra became available over the counter. The drug’s manufacturer, Pfizer, voluntarily withdrew the drug from the market.
But when the drug was introduced as a treatment for ED in 1998, it was linked to more than 4,500 deaths.
In 2003, Pfizer announced that it was removing the drug from the market, and it was later withdrawn.
The new study found that the drug caused blood pressure increases in mice.
“These results suggest that Cialis could be a potential treatment for erectile dysfunction,” said Dr. O’Malley, associate professor of urology at UC San Francisco.
“It’s important to note that this is not a treatment for erectile dysfunction. We found no significant difference between mice that were fed a high-dose of Cialis and those fed a low-dose, low-dose placebo.”
Joffe, who was not involved in the research, is professor of urology at UC San Francisco. He also was a professor of pathology and genomics.
